4 years ago today!!

It’s been 4 years today since Stephen’s crash on The Dew Tour in Baltimore left him paralysed from the neck down and left him with life changing injuries. June 22nd 2007 marks the day and I honestly can’t believe it’s been that long already. He’s been through more than most people can imagine in this time. A turbulant rollercoaster ride that his family and close friends have taken with him but he is still here today grinding out each day and living by his life moto ” STAY STRONG”. Stephen has been an inspiration to people across all corners of the globe for his fighting spirit and never say die attitude. There are many complications relating to an injury like this. Beyone the frustration of not being able to move below the shoulders and do the little things we all take for granted each day there are constant infections and bugs to keep at bay which result from a damaged immune system. Stephen has had countless infections and bouts of pneumonia to deal with aswell as constant nerve pain and spasms. Yesterday he had an operation to have a baclofen pump fitted oS in his abdomen and a catherter up his spinal column. The pump designed to release the baclofen drug at regular intervals to reduce the spacticity that causes him much of his pain. So far we believe it went well and was a success so hopefully his comfort levels will improve over the next few weeks.

Today we honour Stephen who despite all the traumas and complications surrounding his situation rarely complains or moans and just get’s on with his life! A hero and soldier in every sense of the word.

STAY STRONG

So glad to hear that Steven is still muscling on, he is a total inspiration for me as I have endured a shoulder injury. Just purchased a new stay strong pivotal saddle and cant wait to get out and ride with it on my bike looking forward to this summer of riding and I’m sure Steven will continue to fight and recover with his admirable amount of determination fuelling his improvement in his health.

Thanks for being an amazing role model
