So after 8 days, hundreds of miles up and down the country, countless mission’s to tick off challenges and find random spots to ride, the team have done eating challenges 25 picked eggs, 10 apples in once sitting, gotten spray tans, tattoo’s , swapped clothes with females and tweeted 500 times in a day to name a few.. 10 ft airs, 27 stair rails, 9ft drops, jumped cars, rode full pipes under resevoir’s..the list goes on. We ended up back at The Source in Hastings, the last stop for the count up and awards. We’d pulled out all the stops to do as much in the 8 days as we could and knew we’d have to have done all the big stuff to be in with a chance of edging out BSD who are masters of Ride to Glory. When the results were announced that 3 teams had beat the 5k point mark we knew it would be very close…And when they announced Stay Strong had taken it, the boys were stoked! Much respect to BSD and The Make and we’re looking forward to seeing all the edit’s.

The crew called Stephen back in Cali and put him on loud speaker while Aloise told him the good news, to say he was stoked was an understatement and made all the effort of the last week worth while.. You’ll have to wait for the edit to hear his reaction! Thanks to Ride UK for the invite, and we look forward to coming back on RTG 2013!

Ride to Glory – The final day

The final day was absolutely mad! Stay Strong managed to smash the last few challenges, we were on a real mission to get it all ticked off. We hit up Brighton uni with Mad Jon, then Eastbourne skatepark and the seafront before racing to the finish line at The Source in Hastings. Thankfully we arrived on time and managed to hang out with everyone else for a while before the results were announced…

TM Adam Aloise stepped up early in the day and set the standard… We had needed to do a 25 stair rail to earn 500 points but had been struggling all week to find something up North. We knew this could be the difference between winning or not winning RTG as BSD would definately have ticked all the 500 pointer’s. We found a 27 stair left sided rail and Aloise said he’d hit it…after 2 roll up’s to check the line he pulled it clean first try! This got everyone pumped and the last day was a pure box ticking mission and everyone was on it! Unfortunately Brandon’s knee was infected and he was struggling to walk and had to sit the last couple of days out. You’ll still get to see some of his treats from early on in the trip…

Ride to glory Day 7

On day 7 we woke up in Cambridge. Straight out, Tony did a 9ft roof drop for breakfast, then went and got a tattoo for lunch. The tattoo is in ultraviolet red ink too, so it looks rad under a UV light! We looked around Cambridge for a pool to ride but they were full of water so we headed to Romford to ride their classic pool and had a sweet private session at the park. They’ve just installed a new wall ride so it was a treat to fly around that place for a few hours. From there we headed down to Brighton in preparation for the final day…

Ride to Glory day 6..

Today I’m pretty sure the boys doubled their score. I woke up in a tent, Mike King bought everyone breakfast, Wallace did loads of jumps including over his car, Jordan got a spray tan and checked off the challenge, then it rained. So we headed to Foundation BMX shop, and then to undercover and indoor spots to get some more tasks ticked and some more clips clocked. Ben Wallace has been on a mission today, he’s a beast! Brandon Kitson’s RTG is over, his knee is huge and he can’t bend it at all, he’s frustrated but killed the first few days of the trip so you’ll see some good stuff in the edit. The crew are now in Brighton, hoping for no rain and the chance to get some street footage and tick the last few boxes! Manchester to Crewe to Corby and finishing in Brighton..SS are not playing around. Hopefully next year Ride will get Shell or Esso as a sponsor for the tour!

Today was pretty funny. We woke up in Leeds, slowly, and ended up riding at Hyde Park skatepark and met up with Mole, which was rad. We got loads of good stuff done at the park in the sunshine before heading out street riding, when Brandon and Aloise did crazy stuff into oncoming traffic… It was pretty mad. We then managed to tick off a few challenges at The Works before going in hard on the drinks… As I write this, we are all pretty gattered…

With the weather being shady this last week the crew decided to skip X Fest which was a real shame as the dirt course looked amazing and a few rider’s were signed up for the event. Since sessioning Terminal 1 skatepark until the early hours on the opening night of RTG, the crew have been all over the place. Nottingham, Manchester including a session at Boneyard near Chester with Owain Clegg. They rode Anthony Watkinson’s old school ticking off a challenge and Matt Priest did a sweet 180 roof gap:

There was a private session that night at Rampworx and the crew got some good clips. Although Tony’s been out of the country for a while riding in the States, he’s still super local at this park!

Yesterday whilst driving over the peak district to Leeds, we found a treat of spot, a reservoir ditch which ticked off another challenge and the flat rail saw some action over the water too:

Brandon Kitson is enjoying England so far, but didn’t understand you can’t spend American dollars here..classic! He’s done the 10ft air challenge at 3 different spots. Below he’s just chilling euro style in Clifton Nottingham:

We’re still waiting to see who’s going to take the RTG tattoo for the team and 500 points! If no-one man’s up Aloise is going to have to use some of his guido persuasion techniques! So we’ll see..

It’s official Pugwash aka Grant Maddox from Alpha BMX and Scattered is joining us on Ride to Glory starting a week on Friday.. Welcome to the crew.. SS Crew will be at X Fest

X Fest is going down at Santa Pod Raceway in Northants next weekend… The dirt course is looking nuts and built by SS family Patrick Guimez and Marcus Hempl…. Stay Strong are on Ride to Glory that week and as part of the tour we are basing the team on site at the event for a few days.. Ben Wallace, Matt Priest and Adam Aloise are riding dirt, Anthony Watkinson is riding park with Ben Hennon.. Nasty and TJ Ellis are flying in from the States so there will be plenty of boys repping that weekend…

A weekend of BMX , Skate and music what more could you want other than some good weather! Tell your friends, round up a crew, pack your tents and come down for the weekend, the contests will go off and it’ll definately be a good time!
